Back to Writing

I started to write Part 2 again. Finished researching for the time being. Got about 5 pages done at school. (I sub teach as a part-time job). I’m shooting for Resurrectionist Man to be done by Christmas. AndrĂ©e thinks not. At any rate, I’m making progress.

A strange word

I ran across an abreviation in the 1848 Boston City Directory. The word is “warch.” I don’t know if it is an abreviation for something or not. It has to do with undertaking. The man who took Webster’s body to the home in Cambridge is listed as a “coffin warch.”
I’ve written over 200 pages so far, and I’m only half done.

Prosecution Witnesses

I compared names of the 71 prosecution witnesses with the Parkman genealogy and discovered that 52 were in the family tree. Yesterday (Saturday) I had The Murder of Andrew Sigler for sale at a craft fair. Sold 2 copies. I was told by the publisher that it is normal for a person to sell only 50 books the first year. I’ve sold over 600. I guess that makes it a “best seller”.

The Jury Members

Parkman genealogy shows the names of 10 of the 12 jury members, and the grandmother of another. Collusion? Payoff? Guess we’ll never know for certain, but the possibility is there.

Another Witness — a Parkman Family Member

I’ve been spending a lot of time checking Parkman’s genealogy vs. various witnesses. I found another cousin of George Parkman — his name is Fisher Bosworth from Grafton, Worcester, Mass. He was the last witnesss for the prosecution and a surprize witness at that.

Labor Day

Haven’t done a bit of writing, just a lot of research. I’m still re-reading the trial transcript. I’ve decided to check the names on the Coroner’s Jury and the trial jury just in case any of them are part of Parkman’s family. Now that would be a find. Wish I could find the names of the Grand Jury folks who decided he was guilty. I have the name of the G.J. foreman, but that’s about it.

The Book Won an award!

I found out today that The Murder of Andrew Sigler won the book of the year award from the U.P. Writer’s Association and I won “Writer of the Year”! Whoo-whee!
On another note, Resurrectionist Man is coming along just fine. Found out that Nathaniel D. Gould, a teacher of penmanship for 50 years, was also a member of the Parkman family tree. He testified that Webster wrote three letters to Suffolk County Marshal Tukey. I doubt that Webster wrote them because I’ve seen the letters and compared them. No way did Webster write them.
